  • “Vision for the Pillars” at St Andrew’s Minster Church – Crowdfunding launch

    Plymouth based “Vision for the Pillars” launch crowdfunding  campaign to raise £10,000 The vision is to create an original, exciting and iconic work of art in the centre of the city for the people of Plymouth. Located near the entrance to St Andrew’s Minster Church,  the proposed sculpture will be a life-size figure in bronze (or bronze resin) of a fisherman casting a net across the pillars, forming an arch over the people passing underneath; thus linking the city and the minster, signifying the special relationship between the St Andrew’s and the City of Plymouth.  The design recognises the long history of Plymouth as a busy fishing port and reflects the Apostle Andrew’s role as a ‘fisher of men’. The arch formed by the sculpture leads to the RESURGAM door of the minster thus the net’s rise will echo the resurgence from the ashes of both the minster and the city following...
