Meeting to explore and pray about a Plymouth based “puppet ministry”

Event Details

Using puppets in Christian outreach and ministry

There are a growing number of young people in primary schools and beyond who do not know that the name of Jesus is anything more than a swear word. There are also a growing number of children and young people in our schools who have issues with their identity, self-esteem, anxiety, depression and self-harming behaviours. There is a need to tell young people about Jesus and puppetry is a creative and fun way that young people listen to and remember as so visual!

Romans 10 v 14- But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?

I have had the joy and privilege in previous years to have been part of a very active puppet team, but hasn’t been running for a number of years due to various reasons. However, the passion to use puppets has never died.

I consider that God gave me a “vision” – planted a vision in my thinking about 3 years ago. The vision was that when a puppet team / ministry re-emerges it should be a cross Christian denominational one.

John 13v 35

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another

The world needs to see us as working together, praying together, doing outreach together etc. and above loving each other in a way that the world looks on and is curious to know why and how!

I have been waiting for what seems the right time in my life to initiate something to start a puppet ministry again. I see myself at the moment at being in a position to:

– Train people who have never used puppets

– Encourage / train further others who have used puppets and maybe

still are

– Pray with others about how and where puppets can be used in

Plymouth as outreach tool

– Organise and run a lending library of all the resources / puppets I

have use puppets with others in outreach (schools / outreach

events etc.)

If this vision is of God and the timing is right I believe there will be a group of people whom God will speak to / nudge to attend the meeting below, and if no one comes, not a problem!  I will continue to seek Gods will for this.
