Walk For Freedom
Calling all Churches in Plymouth to take part in the Walk For Freedom – A Global Walk which aims to Stop Slavery. A21’s 2nd Annual Walk For Freedom 2015
On 17th October, individuals and community groups from Plymouth will participate in a global event that is mobilising people to help stop human trafficking.
The event is The A21 Campaign’s “Walk For Freedom” – aiming to shed light on the 27 million men, women, and children who are still trapped in slavery today. With over 17 different countries participating in last year’s walk, The A21 Campaign, a global anti-human trafficking organisation, aims to raise even more awareness and funds in their 2nd annual Walk For Freedom 2015. The Walk For Freedom in Plymouth will be taking place at 10am on Saturday 17th October, beginning at Mutley Baptist Church on Mutley Plain.
Modern-day slavery is a global reality that affects every continent and economic structure. The reality is that there is no action without awareness. Through the Walk For Freedom, A21’s goal is to generate conversations that lead to improvements in global aftercare efforts and the prosecution of traffickers worldwide. Christine Caine, A21’s Founder, says, “The Walk For Freedom plays an integral role in the fight against human trafficking. It’s not just about taking a walk through a popular city, or simply handing out a pile of flyers; it’s about shining a spotlight on injustice and mobilising people to take action. Together we can rescue, restore, and rebuild the lives of human trafficking victims.”
This year, there are more opportunities than ever before to make every step for freedom count. From Sydney to Los Angeles, London to Cape Town, participants are able to join a walk, host a walk, or even support a walker.
