Free online training about reaching the nations on our doorstep
The nations are on our doorstep. Many of them are hungry for friendship and longing to learn English. Currently there are at least 100 refugees and asylum seekers on a waiting list for English classes or a conversation group in Plymouth. Which presents us, as the body of Christ, with a great opportunity to serve and befriend them. In partnership with ODILS (Open Doors International Language School, Plymouth) and TPT (Transforming Plymouth Together), Aish have organized a practical training to equip local Christians to start a church based once-a-week English Conversation group focused around matters of the heart. The 3 Zoom sessions will provide a chance to learn more about how to befriend people from other cultures and help them explore more about faith and the Bible.
To date, more than 80% of Muslims, Buddhists and Hindus don’t even know one Christ follower. We are prayerfully pursuing seeing that statistic become history and for many previously without access to the Good News of Jesus to hear why He is Good News! We would be grateful if you would make this training opportunity known to those in your congregation who you think may be interested and also let us know if your church might consider hosting a conversation group in the future once Covid restrictions allow.
“thanks for a very interesting course which we feel will stand us in good stead as background information for the people we encounter” – John and Anne participants Spring 2019
“Thank you so much for an exciting first evening. Having got home I realized you managed to squeeze in – worship, prayer, Bible study, info, video clips, reflection, group discussion, book stall, food, etc and sharing of leading between the three of you! We didn’t feel bombarded. Far from it! It was a thought-provoking evening which you managed extremely well.” And at the end of 6 sessions: “You have a message that every Christian in Plymouth needs to hear! … The content of every evening was excellent …” Jacky participant Autumn 2018.
