Interview room needed

Hi all

You may already be aware of this but there is a not enough immigration legal advice capacity in the city, this is having a severe impact on some of those most vulnerable arriving in Plymouth. The Legal Aid Agency have had issues with a lack of law firms tendering for contracts to work in Plymouth. As we are a dispersal area there is high demand and service providers supporting asylum seekers and refugees are struggling to cope. Ultimately people aren’t getting legal advice to challenge decisions.

We have had a phone conference with the Legal Aid Agency who are keen to issue another tender for immigration law after the General Election.

They have asked if we could help them find interview space for solicitors to meet with clients. This would be needed 2 days a week.

We would be grateful for any office space that you may be able to offer which may be under-utilised within your existing service. Unfortunately there is no funding in the short term to support this but we would expect that once a provider was established in the City that they would be able to contribute towards costs. At this stage we are really relying on the generosity and goodwill of Plymouth organisations.

Please may you let us know if you believe you have anywhere appropriate, probably needs to be city-centre based or within close proximity/walking distance from the city.
