JOB DESCRIPTION

 Job Title:                                Soft Play Café Worker

 Employee at                         Plymouth Methodist Central Hall

 Location:                         Plymouth Methodist Central Hall, Eastlake Street, Plymouth, PL1 1 BA

 Responsible to:                 The Cafe Manager and management team and ultimately to the Superintendent Minister

Responsible for:                N/A

Purpose and Objectives:     This soft play cafe worker post has been established to further the Church’s mission among young families and enable the soft play cafe to function safely and smoothly

 

Qualification:                        This role is to relieve staff at busy times or during ill health. The person must be able to come in and be able to work and know the environment.  There will be some training over a period of time.

 

Main Responsibilities                 

  • Ensuring the soft play cafe is a welcoming environment for families new to or on the fringe of the church
  • Preparing the cafe for opening each day.
  • Taking entry payments
    • Using a card reader and small till.
  • Serving drinks and any other items prepared by DC
    • Barista style coffee
  • Closing the cafe
    • Cashing up and putting money into safe.
  • Setting up and putting away tables, chairs and toys as required.
  • Regular inspection and clean of soft play and toys after every session to keep PSPC Covid secure.
  • Relating and talking to parents/carers in order to build bridges between the church congregation and young families.

SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

This role is subject to a clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (and satisfactory completion of Methodist Church approved Safeguarding Training)

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

  • Must be passionate about for working with families and under 11’
  • Able to serve Barista coffee and refreshments (training will be given)
  • Will need to hold a food hygiene certificate (this can be organised)
  • The worker must be able to access and clean the soft play area and move furniture
  • Capable of using a card reader and till after training
  • This role is an integral part of our Christian ministry and as such requires the worker to be willing to support and adhere to PMCH ethos and values

PMCH COMMITMENT and PROVISION

  • Space for appropriate training and development

 TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • This is an annualised contract for 12 hours over the year.
  • There are no set hours, the hours are planned to cover existing permanent staff when on holiday or sick and extra workers during busy holiday periods. Extra hours can also be given for covering parties subject to the applicant being over 18 years of age.
  • Hours can be increased as needed but this contract guarantees a minimum of 12 hours over the year.
  • Appointment will be subject to confirmation of your authorisation to work in the UK as required by the Immigration Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.

The post is otherwise subject to the terms and conditions of the Methodist Church.
