Anita

This year one of the venues for this prestigious show is Plymouth! It comes here on 17th September and will be here until December. The show is an exhibition with several set pieces which will be on display in various venues, accompanied by fringe events. The theme for this 7th Show is “In the Days of the Comet”.

Anita is a local artist and has the vision for staging one of these fringe events which will last for about a week, possibly during November. The proposal is to host a contemporary art installation called “The Gathering”.

It will feature around 100 life-sized figures created mainly by church and school groups, representing the millions whose lives have been transformed by one person. Just over two thousand years ago a comet, or star, moved across the eastern Mediterranean skies to herald the birth of a child. “The Gathering” will remind its participants that we are once again entering Advent; a time to reflect on the significance of this historical moment to every individual and for the future of our planet. The plan is to arrange these figures so walking between them is like walking through a labrynth, arriving in the centre to find a representation of Jesus Christ.

Prayer points:

  • for the right venue. The Methodist Central Hall has been booked but is not available at the weekend, so a secular building would be much better. Pray for favour with the Council for their help in hosting this.
  • for the communication of the vision to all and the support of all the churches in letting their members with creative talents know about this opportunity
  • for all the practicalities of running this Show. For the right balance in knowing God will provide and doing what is necessary!
  • for the ability to keep the Christ central in the exhibit and for God to be glorified through it and for many to reflect on what they see and experience.
  • long-term vision – for a bringing together of creative Christians to support one another and together to do so much more than they can do on their own
