The Foodbank is run from the Crown Centre in Stonehouse and is a project of Plymouth Methodist Mission Circuit. The inside of the building has just been refurbished and there is an open day for anyone interested on Monday Sept 12th between 9.30 and 12.30 in the morning and between 5 and 7 in the evening.

The Foodbank distributes tins and dried food which the Plymouth community donates. 88 agencies give out red vouchers which qualifies somebody to ask for a food parcel. In addition to giving out food there is always a listening ear and advice as to other agencies which may offer further help. The Foodbank aims to show God’s love in practical action. Occasionally there is an opportunity to pray for folk.

A Job Club is also run from the Centre and classes teaching simple cooking and other skills. Sometimes people who have received food come back and donate goods or volunteer to help.

Prayer points:

  • give thanks for the refurbishment and for the many volunteers
  • give thanks for the opportunities to provide services local people need
  • new volunteers are always welcome and needed
  • pray that the right support is given to each person
  • for wisdom in helping people grow in their faith and relationship with God
  • for time to do all the administrative and financial work
  • for funding to keep the projects going
