VISIONS

Plymouth Men's Ministry Network

In Plymouth there are a number of successful men's ministries operating at a range of churches. During the last few months these different ministries have been meeting together to form a network in order to work together better.

It was agreed that we would work together with a couple of key objectives.

To regularly communicate between the groups as to what events are being planned so as to cooperate and support each other. For example, if a particular church group are organising a surf event, cycle ride, walk on the moor, breakfast etc - they will let us know in order for the events to be coordinated and communicated effectively.

Events will also be listed on our CVM Plymouth Facebook page – please do check it out and join to be kept up to date.

A number of "key events" will be planned and supported collectively each year (e.g. The Code Life event taking place in Exeter in October) - this will be coordinated by a core team.

If you wish to be included on updates please can you email  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with your contact details (including your mobile contact number) and also advise which church you normally attend.

For your diary and information, future events are as follows:

  • Sunday 24th July - Football Tournament (contact Dan Nation)
  • Monday 12th September - Carl Beech, PCC (contact Richard Bunt)
  • Saturday 1st October - Eric Delve, Hope Baptist (contact Tony Jopson)
  • Saturday 15th October - Code Life, Exeter (contact Kev Smith)
  • June 2012 - The Gathering (National Conference weekend 30th June 2010)

Please start to promote these events and dates and feel free to communicate any future events that you might have in mind - and also any regular events (e.g. cycle riding each Saturday morning at 7.30 a.m.)

GREEN ARMY!! One extra idea - are there men out there intending to buy season tickets for Argyle? We could buy them as a group and not only enjoy watching great football together - but also have an opportunity to build relationships between us and invite our mates too.

Email  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you are interested in this idea. Regular monthly meetings will be held at Kinterbury House, Kinterbury Street, Plymouth, PL1 2DG. Next meet will be 21st July for update and prayer – please come along or email for more information.

We are linked to CVM Christian Vision for Men – with the vision of “equipping the church to introduce every man in UK to Jesus Christ”  See http://www.cvmen.org.uk/ for more info.

The more we support and contribute to this network the more value it will be to all of us and those we are seeking to serve.

Many thanks

The Cardiff Nativity

Hi...And blessings to you all at Churches Together in Plymouth.

Why am I contacting you? Well, last Christmas (2010) something so miraculous happened in Cardiff that we want you to know about it. I have already spoken with Paul Smith at the Plymouth Methodist Central Hall, and he and other city centre church leaders have already shown a real interest.

MISSION AFRICA – LEGACY OF HOPE PROJECT –RWANDA

All Nations Ministries, a local charity based in Plymouth, is planning to extend its programme of support and social welfare to Rwanda. It has been 16 years since Rwanda was bathed in blood from history’s most effective killing spree. The brutal murder of nearly 1 million people in 100 days by machetes and clubs was one of the most horrific and tragic episodes in the 20th Century. Today, Rwanda is a country where 60 percent of the population lives below the poverty line, life expectancy is 49 years, literacy is 70 percent, and 400,000 children (60 percent of those under 20 years old) are orphans, often living on the streets or being cared for by extended families in deprived conditions. Many women are living with the traumatic consequences of rape and violence and HIV/Aids infection which is often passed to their children through breast milk.

Mothers' Day photo shoot:

Vision: To make this part of a Mothering Sunday outreach to your community. Using the length of wood, hang one sheet vertically, with the other spread out on the floor to create a studio area (consider best lighting needs). Invite families to have photos taken in turn, upload, crop and edit as necessary and print off. Frame the pictures and sell to the family for £2 or £3 just to cover costs.
